Sam George Secures Massive Reduction in MTN Fibre Broadband Prices, Boosting Digital Access for Ghanaians
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, , has announced a landmark reduction in MTN Ghana’s fibre broadband tariffs, marking a significant step toward making high-speed internet more affordable and accessible for millions of Ghanaians.
The breakthrough follows extensive engagements between the Ministry and MTN Ghana as part of government’s broader agenda to enhance digital inclusion, promote innovation, and expand access to affordable connectivity across the country.
In a statement shared on social media on Wednesday, the Minister revealed that consumers will now enjoy dramatically reduced prices on MTN’s unlimited fibre broadband packages. Under the new pricing structure, subscribers who previously paid GH₵987 monthly for an unlimited 100 Mbps package will now pay only GH₵299, representing one of the most significant price cuts in Ghana’s telecommunications sector in recent years.
As part of the revised offerings, MTN Ghana has also introduced an unlimited 300 Mbps package priced at GH₵444 per month, providing customers with faster internet speeds at a highly competitive rate. For users with greater bandwidth requirements, including businesses, content creators, and technology professionals, a premium unlimited 500 Mbps package will be available at GH₵999 monthly.
The Minister described the development as a major victory for consumers and a testament to government’s commitment to reducing the cost of digital services while improving the quality and reliability of internet connectivity nationwide.
According to him, access to affordable broadband has become essential in today’s digital economy, where students rely on online learning platforms, entrepreneurs operate digital businesses, professionals work remotely, and content creators generate opportunities through online platforms.
He praised the leadership of for responding positively to government’s call for more affordable internet services and for demonstrating a commitment to delivering greater value to customers.
The reduction is expected to provide substantial relief for households and businesses that have long expressed concerns about the high cost of broadband connectivity.
