Ghana Secures Renewal of Work Permits for Citizens in The Bahamas
The Government of Ghana has successfully secured the renewal of work permits for Ghanaian professionals employed in the construction and engineering sector in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, marking another important achievement in the country’s efforts to protect the welfare and livelihoods of its citizens abroad.
The positive development follows constructive and fruitful discussions between the Governments of Ghana and The Bahamas, resulting in an agreement to renew the work permits of Ghanaians who have been working under private business initiatives in the Caribbean nation.

The renewal brings relief to many Ghanaian workers whose permits were due to expire, allowing them to continue contributing their skills and expertise to major construction and engineering projects while maintaining their legal status in The Bahamas.

The successful resolution underscores the strong diplomatic relationship between Ghana and The Bahamas, as well as the commitment of both governments to fostering cooperation in labour mobility, economic development, and international partnerships.

Appreciation has been extended to the Minister of State for Immigration in The Bahamas, The Honourable Darron S. Pickstock, Member of Parliament, for his outstanding leadership and cooperation throughout the discussions that led to the agreement. His commitment to dialogue and collaboration played a significant role in achieving a mutually beneficial outcome.
The agreement also reflects Ghana’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the interests of its citizens living and working abroad. Through sustained diplomatic engagement, the government continues to ensure that Ghanaians have access to opportunities while enjoying the protection of their rights in host countries.

The renewal of these work permits is expected to strengthen confidence among Ghanaian professionals overseas and further deepen the cordial relations between Ghana and The Bahamas, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in labour, investment, and economic growth.
As Ghana continues to expand employment opportunities for its skilled workforce internationally, this latest development serves as a testament to the value of diplomacy, constructive dialogue, and international partnership in advancing the interests of Ghanaian citizens around the world.
