Mr. Coffie Eshun, the father of the late Hip life sensation Castro, strongly believes his son may still be alive. Castro vanished on July 6, 2014, while on a jet ski with his friend, Janet Bandu, during a holiday trip to the Ada River. The trip included friends, among them the Ghanaian football legend, Asamoah Gyan.
The incident left many heartbroken as Castro was famous for his hit songs at the time. Despite the jet skis being found, the bodies of Castro and Janet have never been recovered. Their disappearance has remained a mystery for over a decade, despite numerous extensive search efforts.
In an interview on Empire FM’s Showbiz on July 7, 2024, Mr. Coffie Eshun told host Feeling Daddy that he has not given up hope. When asked if he had come to terms with his son’s possible death after ten years, Mr. Eshun said, “With my faith, I believe he could be found.” He also hinted that foul play might have been involved in his son’s disappearance.
However, according to the Evidence Act, 1975 (N.R.C.D. 323), a person who has not been heard from in seven years despite efforts to search for them is presumed dead. Section 33 of the Act states, “Where a person has not been heard of for seven years despite diligent effort to find that person, that person is presumed to be dead. There is no presumption as to the particular time when that person died.”
Despite this legal presumption, Mr. Coffie Eshun continues to hold onto hope that his son is alive, keeping the memory of Castro alive for his fans and loved ones.
