Gospel musician and preacher Sonnie Badu has advised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to reappoint Kwesi Appiah as the coach of the Black Stars.
This call comes after the team’s disappointing performance in recent years, particularly in the ongoing AFCON 2025 Qualifiers. The BlackStars have played four matches without a win.
In their match against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Black Stars managed only a goalless draw. The return leg in Libya saw the team defeated 2-0, further highlighting their struggles.
Since Sudan appointed the former BlackStars coach, they have shown tremendous improvement, which has led Sonnie Badu to call for Kwesi Appiah’s return to restore the team’s form.
Currently, the Black Stars sit in third place in their group table with just two points, making it unlikely for them to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. This poor display marks one of the worst performances for the BlackStars in over two decades, leaving many Ghanaians frustrated and disappointed.
After the recent match, Sonnie Badu took to social media to share his disappointment. He wrote: “Dear @ghana_fa_official, I can tell you for free that this was a painful win for my friend. Let’s swallow our pride and bring him back! This is more spiritual than physical, and if you think football isn’t spiritual, just hear me out—anything controlled by the wind definitely has mysteries.”
Sonnie Badu remains a passionate supporter of the national team. His call to bring back Kwesi Appiah reflects his desire to see the Black Stars succeed again.
