Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has pledged to donate GHC 20,000 to Samuel Akonnor, a third-year student at the University of Education, Winneba.
Samuel, who suffers from Cervical Dystonia, a rare neurological disorder, expressed his admiration for Shatta Wale during an interview on TV3’s The Day Show with Bella Mundi.
In the interview, Samuel shared that meeting the artist would bring him great joy and Bella Mundi used the opportunity to appeal to Shatta Wale to meet him.
Samuel is also an artist, widely praised on social media for his exceptional drawing skills, despite the challenges of his condition. Cervical dystonia, also known as spasmodic torticollis, causes involuntary muscle contractions in the neck, leading to twisting or tilting of the head.
A campaign is underway to raise funds to support Samuel’s medical treatment. Shatta Wale’s donation is a significant contribution to this cause. “Bella Mundi because of this humble boy I am coming for an interview and also support the boy with 20kghc” he wrote on Twitter now X.
This support will help the effort to mobilize funds for Samuel’s medical care and highlight the importance of community involvement in helping individuals with rare conditions.
