In a surprising turn of events, four relatives who were sent to Norway to bring back the body of a deceased paralympic coach have disappeared. Samson Deen, the president of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), reported this incident.
This situation is connected to an earlier scandal involving para-athletes who traveled to Norway for a marathon. These athletes did not register for the event and vanished upon arrival. It was later discovered that they were not real para-athletes but had used deceitful means to travel to Norway.
Deen explained the situation: “Initially, six or seven people applied for visas. Their applications were denied. They then forged letters to get the visas. Once in Norway, they absconded, and one of them died. Afterward, they contacted the Norwegian embassy again, requesting permission to send the deceased’s family to bring back the body. The four relatives went to Norway but didn’t return with the body. Instead, they also disappeared. These individuals have been identified.”
The NPC has reported the situation to the police, and investigations are ongoing. The investigation is in two folds. One, into the illegal formation of the 11-member team that travelled. The Second investigation is to located, and deport the family members of the head Coach.
