In a recent interview with Nana Zeal on Class FM’s show, ClassXtra, Pappy Kojo, the talented hip-life artist, shared insights about his latest album, The Millennium 2000. This six-track project, featuring a mix of selected artists, is already gaining attention.

Pappy Kojo explained the reason behind the album’s title, saying it reflects the sounds and influences of the year 2000. He noted that his musical inspiration and taste developed during that time, and the “big boys” of that era motivated him to pursue music. He felt it was the right moment to bring back the essence of that period through his project.

The album’s first track, Do It For You, features Sena Huks. Pappy Kojo revealed that the song was recorded ten years ago. He described Sena as an incredible singer whose voice was perfect for the project, and he felt that now was the ideal time to release the track as the album’s introduction.

On the second track, Iron, Beeztrap KTM delivers a strong performance. Pappy Kojo praised Beeztrap for capturing the old-school vibe he was looking for, mentioning that he had always been a fan and was eager to collaborate with him.

Another highlight of the album is Faky3, featuring the legendary KK Fosu. Pappy Kojo expressed his excitement about working with such an icon, confidently stating, “I have a song with KK Fosu. Who are you?” He takes pride in this collaboration, emphasizing his success.

Dadie Anoma showcases the talents of RJZ and Mzbel, who teamed up for a powerful performance. Pappy Kojo described RJZ as an exceptional singer and Mzbel as the “baddie” he needed for the track. RJZ had previously featured on his Green Means Go track, making her a natural fit for this collaboration.

The project also includes a verse from Italian rapper Chef Rida on the track Chef Frida. Pappy Kojo explained that he was inspired by D12’s approach of adding short verses from different artists. As a fan of Chef Rida, he added her 24-second Italian verse to give the album an international touch.

The final track, 1Sima Pt 3, features Omar Burna, Tycuun, Origen, and Semenhyia, highlighting the talents of Fante rappers. Pappy Kojo urged people to recognize the skills of these artists, calling their talent “super” and encouraging others to listen.

Pappy Kojo also used the opportunity to speak against illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana, highlighting its harmful effects on the environment. He joined concerned citizens and organizations in calling for the government to take action against the menace.

This project, The Millennium 2000, is a nostalgic yet innovative album that pays tribute to the sounds of the early 2000s. Through collaborations with both legendary and emerging artists, he creates a diverse musical experience that showcases his growth and passion for hip life. With socially conscious messages and a nod to his musical roots, Pappy Kojo proves that his artistry goes beyond entertainment, aiming to inspire and provoke thought.
