Ghanaian stand-up comedian Samuel Tetteh Madjitey, known for his craft as Oh Joo, has cemented his position as one of the best in the Ghanaian comedy game currently.

The exceptional comedian was very impressive at the Easter comedy show, tagged, Basketmouth Cancel Culture on the night of Saturday, March 30, 2024. The Easter comedy show, which was organized by Barons World in collaboration with Event Factory Ghana, had an impressive attendance, which has been one positive factor about comedy events in Ghana in recent times.

The comedy event, which was headlined by legendary Nigerian comedian Basketmouth at the Accra International Conference Center saw performances from the likes of Basketmouth, Buchi, Koboko, I Go Save, Forever, Unknown, Jacinto, Dwomoh and the man who stole the show, Oh Joo. The Night of Music and Stand Up comedy, which cost patrons 300 Cedis for Standard and 500 Cedis for VIP tickets, also provided great musical performances from legendary George Jaraah and Trigmatic.

Professor Liarnel, as he is affectionately called, took to his social media page to express his excitement after his exceptional performance.
“I had mad fun last night. We set the place on fire”, the excited performer posted. His colleagues, MJ The Comedian, Jerry Ashinyo, and Dwomoh also had some complimentary words on the same platform for Oh Joo after his stunning performance.

Ghana comedy has been on some great accomplishments with the likes of OB Amponsah, Lekzy DeComic, and Foster Romanus, among others leading the park to champion this beautiful course. Comedians such as Kojo Pjay, Jerry Ashinyo, Afia Barcelona, MJ The Comedian, Ajeezay, and a few others are also doing great works for the industry.

The revolution of the Ghanaian comedy industry commenced with the likes of David Oscar, DKB, Funny Face, and ID James Brown. These guys and few others had to put in enormous efforts and have successfully made comedy attractive in Ghana.

Media guru, Sammy Flex, who is the current manager of Ghanaian Dancehall heavyweight, Shatta Wale, has also earned some flowers for his role in getting Ghana comedy in motion. The provision of slots on his morning show, Showbiz Agenda on Zylofon Media, helped in creating avenues to identify talented comedians, who have now grown to be frontliners in the game.

The comedy fraternity is really proud of the support received from Ghanaians. A number of these comedians in the persons of OB Amponsah, Jacinta, Comedian Waris, Romanus, and Lekzy DeComic, among few others, have had so successfully sold out events. The likes of Oh Joo surely have a lot to offer, and hopefully, he shows the world better versions of him.
