Stanley Nyantakyi braved all odds and defeated a rugged Emmanuel Quartey to be crowned Ghana’s Featherweight ” King” on Tuesday night at the SG Mall in Kumasi. In what becomes his maiden professional outing in Kumasi, ” The Ashanti Warrior ” was never lacking in zest, momentum and energy. He seemed dogged and just smiled whenever Quartey landed a good shot on him.

It was a ding-dong battle; both boxers landing heavily to the head and body, until Quartey broke down and succumbed: giving Nyantakyi , an indigene of The Garden City a big win before the vociferous crowd that had thronged the SG Mall in Kumasi.

Put together by Gordon Frimpong’s Osibor Boxing Promotions, the bill also featured Elvis ” Soldier ” Ahorgah, Richard Fenyi, Eric Quarm, John Zile, Bismark Saah, Jon Power, Emmanuel Otoo, Robert Bruce among others. Nyantakyi, in a speech replete with frenetic gusto pledged to make Asanteman and Mother Ghana proud.

Executive Members of the Ghana Boxing Authority led by Mr Abraham Kotei Neequaye ( President) , Nana Se Menhyia ( CEO of SG MALL) , Nana Apau Wiafe Ababio Nsanwoansa ( Benkumhene of Otumfuor Osei Tutu II)and Bright Kankam Boadu of Pure FM were among dignitaries who graced the show. Patrons clamoured for more of such bouts in the Ashanti Region and Promoter Gordon Frimpong aka Osibor of the Osibor Boxing Promotions vowed to deliver on that. It’s an upward ascent for Ghana Boxing.
