Ghanaian rapper Lyrical Joe has expressed his disappointment and frustration after losing the Best Rapper of the Year award to Amerado at the 2023 Ghana Music Awards.
In a recent interview, Lyrical Joe shared his thoughts on the award ceremony, stating that he felt cheated and unfairly overlooked.
“I was robbed of the Best Rapper award,” Lyrical Joe said. “My song met all the criteria, and I know I deserved to win.”
Lyrical Joe was nominated in the Best Rap Performance category alongside Sarkodie, Strongman, Medikal, and Amerado. Although he didn’t win, he believes his song stood out and met the requirements to take home the award.
The Ghana Music Awards aim to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements in the Ghanaian music industry. However, Lyrical Joe’s comments have sparked a debate about the award’s credibility and the criteria used to select winners.
Despite his disappointment, Lyrical Joe remains optimistic and is already looking forward to the next award season.
He has been nominated again for the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, and this time, he’s hoping to secure the award above other rappers like Sarkodie, Amerado, and Medikal.
Lyrical Joe’s fans have shown their support on social media, praising his talent and dedication to the craft.
The controversy has also sparked a wider conversation about the importance of fair recognition in the music industry.
