Veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, widely known as Maame Dokono, has given some important advice to young ladies about having a healthy love life. Speaking in an interview on Asaase Radio, Maame Dokono emphasized that no lady should stay with an abusive partner.

She strongly believes that young women should be productive and add value to their lives. By doing so, they can ensure they are treated with respect in their relationships.

Maame Dokono explained that if a woman relies too much on her partner to provide everything, he may become rude or abusive. Because he is providing everything, he might start seeing the woman as a burden and treat her poorly.

“If you are living in the modern world and allow a man to bully you, then it’s up to you,” she said. Maame Dokono stressed the importance of being independent. She pointed out that a woman who is not self-sufficient might allow a man to bully her. If she has to ask for everything and doesn’t contribute equally, the man may end up bullying her.

However, she added that if a woman is self-sufficient and can manage her affairs without relying on the man, she is less likely to be bullied. “I don’t think any self-sufficient woman will sit and allow a man to bully her,” Maame Dokono noted.

Her advice is meant to empower and challenge young ladies to invest in their personal growth. By being independent and productive, they can create healthy and respectful relationships.

Maame Dokono’s words are a reminder that no one should tolerate abuse in a relationship. It is important for young women to stand up for themselves and leave any partner who is abusive. Investing in one’s growth and becoming self-sufficient are key steps towards ensuring respect and equality in a relationship.
