Ghanaian rapper King Paluta disgracefully ignored patrons and organizers of Afrocentric Retrofusion after receiving protocols to perform at the event.
The Afrocentric Retrofusion was organized on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Locher’s Lounge and Restaurant at Oyibi. The event was rated GHC100.00 with early bird tickets going for GHC 80.00.
According to the owner of the venue, the ‘Aseda’ hitmaker was given his agreed front payment as well as a flight and other means of transportation from Kumasi to the venue. She went on to add that the team members of the artiste were at the venue and were served food and beverages as customery demands.
The ‘Aseda’ hitmaker and his team rushed to the venue some minutes after the owner tearfully revealed her grievances over the failed attempt after almost all the guests have left in disappointment. It is alleged that the artiste was around, but, went to perform at an event at Ashaiman. This infuriated the patrons as they began to flare up.
After a long meeting between the management teams of the artiste and the event center, the artiste was given the opportunity to apologize to the appalled fans and producers of the event. He further promised to reschedule the event for the fans.
King Paluta’s Makoma is arguably the biggest song released in recent months. This has added to his catalog and made him an elite artiste and highly sought after. His management team should be able to manage their schedules to aid the satisfaction of their various customers.
This particular situation has become a challenge to the reputation of the owners of the venue as patrons reacted radically, demanding a refund. A refund from the hitmaker is not enough for damage control. The public apology will go to help as Locher’s Lounge is currently facing a floored reputation. The cost of preparation and organization the event along with the charges of other stakeholders of the event, is another resource gone down the drain.
This repeated instances of artistes ignoring events after receiving proceeds is becoming one too many. Event organizers usually face these sorts of frustrating times when artistes decide to go against agreement. Prior notices from these performers will go a long way to patch up any gaps.
