King Paluta and TGMA Saga: YOU are not being fair to King Paluta if Kidi was allowed to have two songs in the same category in 2021 – Keche Joshua blasts Chatter House

Keche Joshua of Keche Music Group has fired Chatter House (the organizers of Telecel Ghana Music Awards) for excluding King Paluta’s “Makoma” from the Popular Song of the Year category.

King Paluta presented two of his hit songs “ASEDA and MAKOMA” but had one excluded, which has dominated headlines ahead of this year’s edition.

According to the organisers, “each artiste can have only one song per category, except for Best Collaboration, Best International Collaboration and Best Music Video.”

The statement also asserts that, “This rule prevents vote-splitting and ensures that artists have the most substantial chance of winning. (Read also: A dive into TGMA 26 nominations, DopeNation did not file for 2025 TGMA – Robert Kla, PRO of Charterhouse, TGMA26 ‘Big 5’ nominees: Hits and misses)

Using King Paluta’s “Aseda” and “Makoma” as an example, we applied this rule to select the most popular song. Based on our research, including streaming numbers and airplay from 175 radio stations, “Aseda” was adjudged the more popular choice in both Highlife and Most Popular Song of the Year categories,” part of the statement reads.

Reacting to the news, Keche, who had “NO DULLING” nominated for the Most Popular Song of the Year during the 2021 edition, expressed his disappointment and described the decision as unfairness.

“In 2016, they did the same thing to Bisa Kdei. He presented “Mansah and Brother” but one was excluded with the same excuse but they allowed Kidi to have two songs “Enjoyment and Say Cheese” in the same category during the 2021 edition.

“With this decision, I can say that they are not being fair to some of the artists. They’ve not been fair to King Paluta,” Keche Joshua stated in an interview with Isaac Ganyo Tamakloe on Accra-based Mothers FM.
