I Can Boldly Say Afro Music Is Bigger Than Hip Hop – Ennwai

Ghanaian Afrofusion artiste Ennwai, known in real life as Gideon Edu Gyamfi, has made a bold statement about Afro Music rising above Hip Hop, Reggae Dancehall music and few others.

The ‘Be My Wife’ singer was in an interesting conversation on Class Xtra with Zeal Nana Kweku Bliss on Saturday, April 6, 2024. They spoke about life after Dobble, how Covid 19 distorted his previous body of work, his readiness to stage a major comeback as well as the evolution and rise of African music.

The duo went their separate ways, having arguably the biggest sing in the country at the moment. Christy, one of the iconic Highlife songs that still moves limbs when it is been played won the Vodafone Ghana Music Award Most Popularsong of the year in 2017. Paa Kwasi and Ennwai have struggled to return to their level of prominence in the music game despite the hard work they have channeled into their respective solo careers.

Over the past few years, we have had few collaborations that seem to connect the thoughts of Ennwai’s claims. From Beyoncé’s ‘The Lion King’ album, which featured top African artistes such as Shatta Wale and Wizkid to Rick Ross’ quest to have some collaborations with African artistes. A number of the Caribbean top artistes have been touching base on top Afrobeat artistes just to tap into the embodied music genre.

Ennwai, who is currently preparing a new album for his fans, revealed to the listeners of Class Xtra that he has the likes of Tinny Guru Jupitar, Kwame Yogot on the upcoming body of work. He also made mention of the thought of bringing on board Kumasi-based rapper King Paluta, who has finally gained some deserved relevance for his craft.

Banku, the first single off the Alkebulan Riddimz album released by the talented musician, has set a great tone for the rest of the song’s on the album. The song, which provides great information and entertainment, talks about the rise of relationship challenges in this modern era.

The Alkebulan Riddimz Album is a promising body of works, and Ennwai will be grateful to have the support of Ghanaians to push this beautiful project across borders.
