Nominations of the 25th edition of the prestigious Ghana Music Awards, organized by Chatter House, Ghana, are ready to be unveiled. The premiere stage of this year’s event, which is themed The People, The Culture, The Music, is scheduled to take place this night.

For the first time since its inception, Ghana Music Awards will be without its usual headline sponsor, Vodafone Ghana, which has rebranded to Telecel. Vodafone had worked with Chatter House on this beautiful mission since 1999. The award scheme is yet to announce their new headline sponsor to the general public.

The anniversary launch and nominees unveiling tonight, Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 8pm prompt, has brought the whole music industry to a stand still. The event is scheduled to be shown on the major media partner of the award scheme, TV3, and streaming on Ghana Music Awards on Facebook and Charter House Ghana on YouTube.

Aside the usual suspects, which include Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Medikal, Piesie Esther, Amerado, Nacee, Kuami Eugene, Diana Antwi Hamilton, Wendy Shay, Black Sherif, King Promise, Joyce Blessing, Lyrical Joe among others, there is also a chance of having new artistes coming through with surprise nominations. OlivetheBoy, King Paluta, and Vanilla include the list of new artistes with the expectation of penetrating the Ghana Music Awards.

A number of Ghana musicians have acrued some enviable uproar in their careers in the year under review. Black Sherif, who won the overall Artiste of The Year in the previous edition, is expected to maintain his status in the scheme. The Villain I Never Was has accumulated over one billion streams in just eighteen months. At a point in time, the industry had about five spirit filled Gospel songs competing for the top spot. The industry had the likes of Nacee, Joyce Blessing, Diana Hamilton, and Mabel Okyere ruling the airwaves.

Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie, who stands tall when it comes to statistics in this award scheme. He has had 108 awards out of 195 nominations and hopes to add some more, looking at the impact made by his instant hit song, Landlord. Last year’s Best New Artistes, Lasmid will surely be looking at receiving a minimum of four nominations due to his increased leverage in the year under review.

Although there will obviously be some conversations about some artistes who will unfairly miss out in some categories of the nominations. There will be a number of explanations of these situations by communicators of the prestigious organization. The good thing is, this is not the time when fans of such artistes will be asked whether they voted or not. We hope things go well and that artistes are deservedly nominated.
