Celebrated Ghanaian dance intstructor dancer Laud Anoo Konadu, known professionally as Dancegod Lloyd, jubilates as his art was shared on social media by American singer Chris Brown.
The Ghanaian choreographer uploaded a video of himself and his crew members dancing to ‘Hmmm’, a song by the American superster, which features Nigeria’s Davido on Friday, April 12, 2024. The video was posted with the caption “Tag @chrisbrownofficial @davido so they could see this!” He also tagged his dance team members in the caption.
The Ghanaian dance star, who once revealed his level of spirituality and the fact that he considers other few factors such as the pedigree of the song and the artistes involved can confidently say this brand association is the Lord’s doing. He has always hammered on the relevance of having more platforms for budding Ghanaian artists to exhibit their talents. Dancegod Lloyd couldn’t hold his excitement to see his dance video being shared by Chris Brown’s Instagram handle as he informed the world through the same medium.
The choreographer, who is credited to have created the dance steps for ‘Shoo’ by Kwamz and Flava, is also a co-founder of the dance school, DWP academy in 2017. This project has produced numerous dance superstars with the likes of Afronitaaa, who just established her Afrostar Kids Academy. He played a role in one of Beyonce’s Lion King projects. He featured in the “Already” music video, which featured Ghanaian dancehall artiste , Shatta Wale.
At the moment, all Dancegod Lloyd needs is the support of the various stakeholders to make this beautiful dream a reality. This will go a long way to groom other talents and build a force that will surprise the world with a variety of dance crafts from Ghana. It will also make the dance industry very attractive as there will be a number of dancers who will be considered for projects in other countries and continents.
Chris Brown’s Hmmm, which features Afrobeats singer Davido, is the latest of the numerous collaborative projects between the two music icons. The two have found some sort of connections after working together on ‘Blow My Mind’. Hmmm, which was released this month by the American singer, is nothing short of a classic production.
Chris Brown is known for his impressive fusion of dance to his musical performances. It is not surprising to see him react positively to this particular work of Dancegod Lloyd and his crew members by sharing their craft. He is a lover of choreography, and it is also a form of promoting his product.
Hopefully, there will be further business adventures between the two parties, and we can have one of our own fly the flag of Ghana high, once again. It will also have a positive influence on the growing dance brands in Ghana and the industry at large.
