In a recent interview on Class FM with Zeal Nana Kweku Bliss, Ghanaian hip-hop and Afro-pop artist Chief One shared exciting details about his upcoming debut album and music career.
Chief One spoke about his active involvement in the production of his music videos. He explained that he usually has a clear concept in mind and collaborates with the director to ensure his vision is brought to life. According to him, he values quality and originality in his content. He said, “I mostly explain the concept to my director so that the video is produced according to my idea. I don’t dictate, but my directors understand me, so it’s always a collaboration.
”Chief One also discussed his preparation for the upcoming album. He revealed that while he had initially prepared three tracks for the album, the remaining seven were surprisingly recorded in just three days. This revelation surprised the host, who noted that many artists spend up to a week producing a single track. Chief One explained that his passion for music allows him to create songs with ease. He emphasized that he does not imitate others but stays focused on his own talent, which has propelled his career forward.
During the interview, Chief One also touched on politics, as Ghana prepares for the upcoming elections. He stated that he has no political affiliations but is open to contributing to efforts that will improve the country. He mentioned that if a political party seeks his influence for campaign performances, his management would consider the offer based on its value.
Language is not a barrier to this young artiste, Chief One skillfully incorporates his native dialect, Ewe, into his music. This unique blend creates captivating and thrilling sounds that resonate with listeners. Since rising to fame in 2019, Chief One has consistently delivered original music that has cemented his place in the African music scene. His success was further recognized in 2022 when he won the Next Rated award at the 3 Music Awards.
His much-anticipated album, “It Is a Must,” is scheduled for release on September 23, 2024. The 11-track album promises to feature exciting collaborations and is expected to further solidify his influence in the music industry.
