Exciting news has swept through the Ghanaian community as Annette Addo-Yobo emerges victorious in the Miss Texas beauty pageant. Annette outshined her competitors to claim the title of Miss Texas for 2024. As the only Ghanaian in the competition, her hard work and dedication have truly paid off.

Winning this prestigious title comes with significant rewards. Annette will receive a $20,000 educational scholarship among others and as well will have the honor of representing Texas in the 97th Miss America Contest. Her achievement is not just a personal victory but a proud moment for the entire Ghanaian community.

Annette’s journey to the crown is deeply rooted in her personal experiences. She has been a dedicated advocate for autism awareness, inspired by her younger brother, Andrew, who was diagnosed with autism at a young age. Annette has always been passionate about bringing attention to the challenges faced by individuals with autism. Her commitment to this cause was evident in her spoken word performance during the pageant, which highlighted the importance of autism safety, awareness, and education.

“I want to bring autism safety, awareness, and education to the front lines of our programming and our legislation. My younger brother Andrew was diagnosed on the spectrum when he was age four. And as an immigrant to this country, he had a large learning curve to overcome,” said Addo-Yobo.

Over the weekend, Annette made history by becoming the first immigrant-born and the first Ghanaian to win the title of Miss Texas. Her victory is a testament to her dedication and resilience, serving as an inspiration to many. The Miss Texas beauty pageant took place at the Charles W. Eisemann Centre for Performing Arts in Richardson.

Annette Addo-Yobo’s success is a beacon of hope for those living with autism and a proud moment for the Ghanaian community. As she prepares to represent Texas on the national stage, her journey will undoubtedly continue to inspire and uplift many.
