Renowned American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder’s dream came true today as he became a Ghanaian citizen. President Akufo-Addo granted him this honor in a special ceremony at the flag staff house.
Last year, Stevie Wonder spoke with Oprah about his wish to move to Ghana . Today, on his 74th birthday, his dream was realized as he officially became a Ghanaian citizen.
Stevie Wonder is super famous, having won 25 Grammy Awards (The Most By A Male Solo Artist). This makes him the Ghanaian artist with the most Grammy wins ever, which is amazing for Ghana’s music scene.
During his speech, he said, “I guess it’s just the lineage I felt Ghana, I felt my civilization was there and I was there where it began and this is just the beginning of great things.”
Now, Stevie Wonder holds dual citizenship, meaning he’s a citizen of both the USA and Ghana. This is a big deal and marks a new chapter in his incredible life and career.
