Veteran music producer Hammer, also known as Edward Nana Poku Osei, recently made the revelation that he was responsible for transitioning Ghanaian artiste Edem from a reggae artiste to a hip hop artiste.
During an interview on Showbiz A to Z, Hammer explained that he saw potential in Edem to excel in the hip hop genre, and therefore encouraged and guided him in that direction. He spoke highly of Edem’s talent and work ethic, and expressed confidence in his ability to succeed in the new genre.
“Edem was originally a reggae artiste, I changed him to a hiphop artiste because I realized he could rap. His name was Exodus, he was a dancehall artiste and could do reggae as well so when he came to me, I slowly transformed him to the part of him that I enjoyed which is the rap”, he said.
