“It feels like just yesterday when I couldn’t afford a decent meal,” Delay confessed in a raw 2025 reflection. Long before the designer outfits and TV cameras, a young Deloris Frimpong Manso battled homelessness and uncertainty in Nkawkaw & Accra. With no clear path forward, she clung to one certainty: Help is coming! a promise she now echoes to struggling youth .
At 17, Delay started as a presenter at Life FM in Nkawkaw (1999)– a far cry from today’s glitz. Her gritty journey unfolded like a Ghanaian epic:
2005: Hustled at Accra’s Top Radio, mastering mid-morning shows.
2008: Launched The Delay Show on TV3. The show now boasts 39 million YouTube views.
2011-2016: Produced hit series Afia Schwarzenegger and Cocoa Brown. Kasa no Ye8 More – the latter mirroring her own rise from adversities.
While media made her famous, Delay Foods cemented her legacy. What began as a small mackerel business now offers 10 product variants, empowering local women and youth through jobs and mentorship. “I use my story to make women believe in themselves,” she declares .
For her, it’s about shattering ceilings: “Nothing must hinder women from top positions”. Her advocacy earned global recognition:
