Ghana-based Liberian Afropop singer Jonathan Lee Prat, widely known for his craft as JZyNo, has revealed his fulfilled aim of having his music make waves in Ghana after conquering the Liberian music industry.

The passionate singer, who collaborated with Lasmid on his mega hit song dubbed Butter My Bread, was a guest on Class FM’s entertainment show dubbed Class Xtra on Saturday, August 10, 2024. In an interesting conversation with Zeal Nana Kweku Bliss, he also opened up on his displeasure of losing out the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2024 Best African Artiste of the Year award to Davido.

The fashionable music star, who discovered his musical talent in 2016, but he took a professional approach to the talent in 2020. Since then, his music career has kept scaling up. JZyNo currently has features from the likes of Medikal, Krimi, and Epixode, among other top Ghanaian artistes. He has been nominated for the African Act of the year, while his Butter My Bread song made it to the African Song of the year category in the 2024 3Music Awards.

The soulful vocalist, whose music is embodied with infectious melodies, had achieved his target of having a hit song in Liberia in the year 2020. The next was to have another in Ghana, a country in which he finds all the needed comfort as though he were at home. This came through with Butter My Bread, which featured Ghanaian music sensation, Lasmid, and was produced by Beatz Vampire.

“When the song started making waves, people started reaching out, but I felt it was as a result of my promotional efforts. I always start promoting my songs immediately when I release them. In two weeks, the song entered the Apple Music chart in Ghana, and then it entered Shazam. That was when I realized how big this particular project is to my career.” JZyNo added.

The Fall Down Inside singer was full of gratitude for the likes of Krimi, Nana Romeo, Dancegod Lloyd, Beatz Vampire, Lasmid and few others for their distinguished roles that birthed this amazing heights for his song and his brand. He would have been more satisfied if the project had won him the Best African Artiste award at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards. Nevertheless, he is proud of the journey and hopes more opportunities will find him with hard work and consistency.

The intriguing song, which features Khaid and produced by Gigz Beatz, has already accumulated over a million plays on Audiomack.

Currently, the biggest artiste from Liberia, JZyNo, hopes to get his fellow Liberian singers to rally on and begin to make some impact in the African music space. Hopefully, the multiple award-winning African entertainer can make a bigger name for himself by leading the Liberian music charge to join the frontliners of African music.
