In a recent interview on Kingdom FM, well-known Ghanaian socialite Shugatiti expressed her concern about the attitude of the country’s youth towards work. She believes there are many jobs in Ghana, but the youth are unwilling to take advantage of them.
Shugatiti, who is also a business owner, runs a restaurant called Pot of Shugga. Through her experience, she has noticed that many young people show a lack of commitment and are more interested in making quick money rather than putting in the hard work needed to succeed. “They start strong for the first few days, but then their performance drops,” Shugatiti explained during the interview.
She emphasized that this issue is not because the youth lack skills. On the contrary, they often perform well initially, but their work ethic diminishes over time. According to Shugatiti, the main problem is laziness and a desire for easy money.
Shugatiti also mentioned that Her friends in different fields have similar complaints. This widespread issue among young employees has become a significant concern for employers across various industries.
One reason Shugatiti believes the youth are not motivated to work hard is the misconception that she herself is involved in “hook-ups” or is supported by a “sugar daddy.” She suspects that some young women might look up to her, thinking that it is easier and more profitable to find a sponsor than to work diligently.
Shugatiti’s comments reflect a growing concern in Ghana about the work ethic of the younger generation. While the job market may have its challenges, Shugatiti insists that opportunities are available for those who are willing to work hard and stay committed.
Her observations remind Ghana’s youth that success comes to those who put in the effort and remain dedicated to their work. The jobs are out there, but it takes perseverance and a strong work ethic to make the most of them truly.
