Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has strengthened leadership within the Dangote Group by appointing his daughters to senior executive roles across the company’s core operations, marking a strategic step in the conglomerate’s long-term growth and succession planning.

The Dangote Group operates in 17 African countries with major interests spanning manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, agriculture, and commercial services. The new appointments position the next generation of leadership at the forefront of the company’s expanding global footprint.

Strategic Leadership Appointments

Halima Aliko Dangote Group Executive Director, Dangote Family Office & International Offices
Halima Aliko Dangote has been appointed Group Executive Director overseeing the Dangote Family Office and the company’s international offices in Dubai and London. In her new role, she will lead the development of the family office in Dubai, ensuring the establishment of strong governance frameworks, operational structures, policies, and organisational systems.

Halima currently serves as Group Executive Director at Dangote Industries Limited, where she plays a key role in corporate strategy and management. She previously served as Executive Director at Dangote Flour Mills, where she successfully led the company’s turnaround and eventual sale. She also held executive leadership at NASCON and continues to serve as a Non-Executive Director.

Beyond the conglomerate, Halima is actively involved in global corporate and development initiatives. She serves as Board President of The Africa Center in New York, sits on the board of Endeavor Nigeria, and is a member of Women Corporate Directors. She began her professional career as an analyst at KPMG and has over 13 years of professional experience. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from American Intercontinental University, London, and an MBA from Webster Business School.

Fatima Aliko Dangote Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations (Oil & Gas)

Fatima Aliko Dangote has been appointed Group Executive Director for Commercial Operations in the Oil and Gas division. She will oversee the group’s energy portfolio, including the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, fertiliser operations, and upstream ventures, while continuing to manage Corporate Communications, Administration and Facilities, and Group Procurement.

Fatima currently serves as Group Executive Director of Commercial Operations at Dangote Industries Limited, where she leads commercial strategy across business units and supervises brand communications, procurement, and administrative functions. She previously held the role of Executive Director, Commercial at NASCON Allied Industries and has extensive experience in strategy and business development within the group.

Earlier in her career, she worked as an associate at Banwo & Ighodalo and is a member of the Nigerian Bar. She also manages independent business ventures in confectionery and real estate and plays an active role in the Aliko Dangote Foundation. Fatima holds a law degree from the University of Surrey and has completed executive leadership programmes at Columbia University, the Wharton School, and Cambridge University.

Mariya Aliko Dangote Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations (Cement & Foods)
Mariya Aliko Dangote has been appointed Group Executive Director responsible for Commercial Operations in the Cement and Foods divisions. She will lead commercial strategy across these sectors while driving integration, market expansion, and operational efficiency.

Mariya has extensive experience within the conglomerate. She was appointed to the Board of Dangote Cement Plc in 2005 and currently serves as Executive Director of Operations at Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc. She has also held senior strategic roles within Dangote Industries Limited, including Group Strategy Lead, with expertise in risk management and business strategy.

She holds a law degree from Bayero University, Kano, and an MBA from Coventry University, United Kingdom. Mariya also serves on several boards, including Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited and Al-Ummah Development Foundation, and is a fellow of the National Institute of Credit Administration.

Strengthening a Global Industrial Empire

The leadership appointments come as the Dangote Group continues to expand its industrial and global influence. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Aliko Dangote’s net worth stands at $31.9 billion, reflecting a significant rise driven by investments in cement production, sugar manufacturing, fertiliser production, and oil refining.
A major driver of the group’s growth is its refinery business, which is set for a strategic expansion through a $400 million partnership with XCMG Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.. The deal is expected to increase refinery capacity from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels daily, positioning the facility among the largest in the world.
