Billionaire Abdul Samad Rabiu Pledges $1 Million Bonus and $100,000 per Goal to Super Eagles Ahead of AFCON Glory

Nigerian billionaire industrialist Abdul Samad Rabiu has thrown his weight firmly behind the Super Eagles, pledging a massive financial reward to inspire the national team to victory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Rabiu, Chairman and Founder of BUA Group, announced that he will reward the Super Eagles with USD $1 million if they emerge champions of the tournament, alongside an additional USD $100,000 for every goal scored in the final. The incentive package is one of the most generous private pledges made in support of Nigeria’s national football team in recent years.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rabiu praised the team’s fighting spirit following their impressive victory over Algeria, describing the win as a moment that reignited national pride.

“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria! You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals,” he wrote.

To further motivate the players ahead of the crucial semi-final clash, Rabiu also pledged USD $500,000 if the Super Eagles win the semi-final, with an added USD $50,000 for each goal scored at that stage.

“Should you go on to win the final, I further pledge USD $1,000,000, plus USD $100,000 for each goal scored in the final,” Rabiu added.

The BUA Group founder urged the team to continue representing the country with pride and determination, reminding them of the millions of Nigerians rallying behind them.

“Wishing you continued success as you carry Nigeria forward. Keep making Nigeria proud. Proudly Nigerian.”

The Super Eagles are set to face host nation Morocco in the semi-final on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 9:00 p.m., with the encounter taking place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The match is expected to be a fiercely contested battle, with a place in the AFCON final at stake.

A Legacy of Giving Beyond Football

Rabiu, Nigeria’s second-wealthiest individual with an estimated net worth of $9.8 billion, is widely recognised not only for his business empire but also for his consistent philanthropic efforts across the country.

In November, he reinforced his commitment to education by funding a 500-seat lecture theatre at Adamawa State University, a project valued at ₦350 million (approximately US$241,379). The initiative forms part of his broader, structured support for Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.

In December, Rabiu further demonstrated his people-first philosophy by distributing $20.7 million in cash to long-serving employees of BUA Group, acknowledging their dedication and role in building one of Africa’s largest industrial conglomerates.
