Ayomide Adeleye, a 23-year-old Nigerian, has been arrested by Nigerian forces for the murder of Christianah Idowu. Ayomide, also known as SK, was once a close friend and church mate of Christianah, but on September 3, 2024, he confessed to killing and secretly burying her in his father’s compound.
Christianah was reported missing by her parents on August 19, 2024. Her supposed abductors contacted the family using her WhatsApp account, demanding a ransom of 1.5 million Naira. Desperate to secure her release, the family managed to raise 350,000 Naira, which they sent through a bet account. After receiving the money, the abductors requested a bank statement of the transaction, but then all communication stopped.
Meanwhile, transactions from Christianah’s bank account were traced to a Wema Bank account. Investigators discovered that the bank verification number (BVN) linked to the bet account was also connected to the Wema Bank account. The betting company, upon being notified, locked the account, allowing only a small amount to be withdrawn.
Ayomide’s active social media presence provided crucial clues, including bank details posted under giveaway posts and exchanges with Christianah. Further investigation into his online activities revealed his involvement. Police operatives tracked his cell phone to his parents’ home in Ikorodu, Lagos, where he was arrested. Christianah’s blue iTel A56 smartphone and other evidence were found in his possession, linking him directly to the crime.
Ayomide confessed to the murder and hinted at the deaths of his ex-girlfriend and sister in 2018 and 2020, respectively. The investigation continues as more details emerge. The Hashtag #JusticeForChristianah has been trending, calling for a thorough investigation and justice for the victims.
